Going Ape Costume aka Becky Lee Evans has been costume building since she was a little girl. She started her career in costuming as a young woman managing a costume rental in Utah County. From there, she attended Southern Utah University where she studied Theater Costuming and Family and Consumer Sciences with a sewing emphasis. After graduation, she moved with her family to the rural Nevada desert where she has created and sold custom Halloween costumes for over 25 years. In 2014 Going Ape entered the world of cosplay. Her personal costumes are chosen based on the challenge, the skills and learning new things. Adding to decades of experience as a seamstress, she has skills in Worbla, foam, sculpting, electronics and lighting, and traditional art. She has competed and has been awarded in several cosplay contests at the master level, with the highlight being the Larger than Life category winner in the 2019 TwitchCon Cosplay Contest. She's married to Justin, who is a history teacher and Nevada poetry fellow. She has three sons and two cats.
